It is a self-propelled artillery system of the United States Army, produced by United Defense Corporation (now BAE Systems Land and Armaments Division). Since its first deployment, the system has been known for its advanced fire control system and navigation capabilities. Equipped with a 39-caliber 155mm M284 howitzer, depending on the ammunition, the range can reach 24 to 30 kilometers. Auxiliary armament consisted of a 12.7mm M2 machine gun on the right side of the turret. The design focuses on occupant safety. The occupants stay in the car at all times during the mission, and enjoy the nuclear, biological and chemical protection system and temperature control air. The turret is lined with Kevlar bulletproof panels to improve its ability to resist light weapons.
