The adidas Originals Superstar was born in 1969 and was the first pair of low top basketball shoes to combine a full leather body with a rubber toe. The Superstar initially appeared as a low top version of the Pro Model for high top basketball shoes, but was well-known for its unique and eye-catching rubber toe shape, and is commonly referred to as the "shelltoe" shell toe. This commemorative design features a classic shell head and serrated three stripes, paying tribute to adidas signature design.
