It is a multi-purpose amphibious auxiliary armored tracked vehicle developed by the Soviet Union in the late 1960 s. Since 1964, began to serve in the armed forces of the Soviet Union, and was widely used for its excellent cross-country ability and amphibious characteristics. The original design was to replace the old AT-P artillery tractor, which could only transport heavily armed soldiers and also tow artillery.
