The Invasive Species Expert Group (ISSG) of the International Union for Conservation of Nature's Species Survival Committee is listed as one of the world's top 100 invasive alien species.

The largest individual has a head width of up to 44 millimeters, a height of 27 millimeters, a handle width of 25 millimeters, and a length of 15 millimeters. The head is flattened on the side, and the shell chamber is formed by 8 shell plates including the rib plate, back plate, upper side plate, peak plate, and kiss plate. The base has a row (21-31) of small side plates that rotate.
