Manila Palm

Manila Palm

Manila palm tree (Adonidia merrillii) is a palm tree species native to the Philippines (Palawan Island and Danzigan Island). This palm tree was planted in East Asia for centuries and then became a staple food in the West. According to reports, it has been naturalized in the West Indies and Florida. It is commonly referred to as the 'Christmas palm' because its fruit turns into a bright crimson color, which is often the color in winter. This type of palm is usually quite small and slender, typically reaching a height of 8 meters, but in some cases it can reach over 40 feet.
