Also known as the American crocodile, it is a freshwater crocodile that lives in North America and is mainly distributed in rivers, swamps, and wetlands in the southeastern United States. It is one of the two largest existing crocodiles, second only to saltwater crocodiles. Large in size, adult individuals can grow up to 4 to 5 meters in length and weigh up to 450 to 1000 kilograms. Having a powerful jaw and sharp teeth, it is a top predator. Food includes fish, birds, small mammals, and other reptiles. Their skin is dark in color, usually black or dark olive, which helps them camouflage in water. The tail is strong and powerful, and is the main tool for swimming and movement.
