Shasta Mountain, Northern California
At an altitude of 14179 feet, it is the second highest peak in the Cascades Mountains and the fifth highest peak in California. It is a magnificent bimodal dormant volcano, with its last recorded eruption occurring in 1786. Although the geological activity in the region remains active and earthquakes are relatively common, Shasta Mountain is famous for its steam vents and several glaciers that provide water sources for the McLeod River, Sacramento River, and Shasta River. The slopes of Shasta Mountain are a popular destination for skiers and climbers, with its majestic mountains standing out within a hundred miles.
