Bonifacio Castle, South Koscijia Island
South Koscijia Island boasts some impressive castles that bear witness to the rich history and cultural heritage of the region. The most famous of these is the Bonifacio Castle, located in the southernmost town of Bonifacio on the island of Corsica. It is a historic fortress built in the 15th century and ordered to be built by the vassal of the Aragon king, Vincent de Sitria. Known for its three-layer defense system, it is a very unique site in Europe. Located in a strategic location overlooking the Mediterranean, its sturdy walls and towers still stand today, making it an excellent place to explore the history and culture of Corsica.
