Known for its massive size and slow movement speed, its carapace is dome shaped or saddle shaped, adapting to different ecological environments on the island. The significant differences in body shape and living habits among different islands in the archipelago are important evidence for Darwin's theory of evolution. Mainly feeds on plants, including herbaceous plants, leaves, and cacti. Currently listed as an endangered species and protected by international conservation organizations.
