Food sources include fish, crustaceans, mollusks, and seaweed. According to the survey, green sea turtles are the most frequently occurring and widely distributed sea turtles in China, but their numbers have significantly decreased. The main reasons for the decline in its population are human predation, destruction of spawning grounds, death from fishing nets, and seawater pollution. Listed as a first-class protected animal in China.
