Virtual reality headset Samsung Gear VR
Gear VR is a virtual reality headset developed in collaboration between Samsung and Oculus VR. Released in 2015 and discontinued in 2020. The display and processor of Gear VR are provided by compatible Samsung Galaxy devices. It features a high field of view lens and an inertial measurement unit with rotation tracking, and is connected to a smartphone via USB-C or micro USB. The side of the Gear VR glasses includes a touchpad and a rollback button, as well as a proximity sensor for detecting when the glasses are turned on. Mainly used for mobile virtual reality games and simulations, it is also used for science and medical education.
