It is distributed in places such as the Korean Peninsula and the Shandong Peninsula in China. This type of shrimp often inhabits the muddy banks of freshwater rivers near the coast or in swamps near the shore. In scientific classification, it belongs to the animal kingdom, arthropod phylum, crustacean subphylum, softshell class, Decapoda, mole shrimp family, and mole shrimp genus. The scientific name of this shrimp was first named by De Haan in 1841.
