PlayStation 2 is a home game console released by Sony Computer Entertainment Co., Ltd. in Japan on March 4, 2000. It is the successor to the PlayStation series and was discontinued on December 28, 2012. This console can not only play games, but also play DVDs. The main competitors are Sega's Dreamcast, Microsoft's Xbox, and Nintendo's GameCube. There are approximately 10828 games on the PS2 platform, making it the highest selling, longest selling, and longest supported game console by official manufacturers in history.
