The Yak-9 fighter jet is the final model of the Yak-7 series fighter jet, which is a modified version of the Yak-7 with all metal wings. It was developed in 1942 and includes long-range, ground attack, and trainer models. It was one of the main combat aircraft models of the Soviet Union during World War II, with 16769 produced, making it the largest fighter squadron.
