Black caiman crocodile, also known as black crocodile, is a reptile belonging to the family Alligatoridae in the order Crocodiles. The black caiman is the largest caiman in terms of body size, with a body length of up to four to five meters. Its head is long and wide, and there is a raised spine along its back. Its color gradually darkens as it grows. Due to the protruding spine in the middle of the eyes of the black caiman, which resembles a eyeglass frame, it is named the spectacled crocodile. Mainly distributed in northern South America, inhabiting various wetlands.. Black caimans have a wide diet, mainly consisting of fish, snakes, dolphins, iguanas, and large mammals. They sometimes hunt other crocodiles, but rarely attack humans.
