He was born on a farm where his parents died when he was a teenager in the aftermath of the flood of 1791. He worked hard on his uncle's farm and studied at night in his free time. That's why he behaves as a child, reading with a bundle of wood on his back. As an adult, he developed several improvements in about 700 towns that made their farming more efficient. He also managed to develop an impressive
