Building

It is a first-class protected lift and suspension bridge designed by Horace Jones and constructed with the assistance of John Wolf Barry and Henry Mark Brunel between 1886 and 1894. It spans the River Thames, near the Tower of London, and is one of the five bridges in London owned and maintained by the City Bridge Foundation, a charitable trust established in 1282. The purpose of building this bridge is to better enter the East End of London, where commercial potential expanded in the 19th century. In 1894, the opening ceremony of the bridge was presided over by Prince Edward of Wales and Princess Alexandra of Wales.

It is a series of historic bridges spanning the River Thames in central London. Since the Roman era, there have been multiple bridges connecting the City of London and the Southwark area. The existing bridge was opened in 1973 and is a box girder bridge constructed of concrete and steel. It replaced a stone arch bridge from the 19th century, which in turn replaced a medieval stone bridge with a history of 600 years. For most of the historical period, residential and commercial buildings were also built on the spacious medieval bridge, which was part of the London City Bridge area.

It is also considered by some to be the world's first overpass.

A historic cast iron arch bridge located in Akashi City, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan. Known for its unique double arch structure, along with the nearby Hata Bridge, they are one of the oldest surviving cast iron bridges in Japan. Built in the Meiji era, specifically in the late 19th century, as part of the railway development and industrialization process at that time, it reflects Japan's adoption and integration of Western technology and architectural styles during that period. Not only appreciated for its engineering and architectural value, but also cherished for its position in the history of Japanese bridge architecture. It has become a symbol of Japanese cast iron bridge technology and architectural art.
