Game Boy (GB for short, Japanese: ゲームボーイ) was Nintendo's first generation portable gaming console released in 1989. Game Boy is a sequel to Nintendo's Game&Watch. As of 2003, GB had a cumulative global sales volume of 120 million units, and Game Boy was the best-selling gaming console before 2004. The next generation handheld console for Nintendo GB is the Nintendo GBA, which was launched in 2001. GB was designed and developed by gamer Junpei Yokoi.
