Sapium silkworm, also known as tallow silkworm and tallow silkworm, is a large moth of the Lepidoptera silkworm moth family and one of the largest moths in the world, with a wing span of 180-210mm. The wing surface is reddish brown, the front wing apex angle is prominent, the shape is similar to the snake head, so it is also known as the "snake head moth". Mainly distributed in tropical and subtropical forests. The larvae feed on the leaves of Sapium sebiferum, Cinnamomum camphora, holly and other forest trees. The cocoon is large and tough, with good strength and decay resistance. One year after the cocoon is buried in the ground, the silk thread is still bright and tough as new. This kind of moth is very precious, the number is rare, belongs to the protected species.
