Megalodon is one of the largest fish known and lived in the Miocene to Pleistocene period, about 23 million to 2.5 million years ago. It resembles a great white shark with a torpedo-shaped body, a conical nose, huge pectoral and dorsal fins, and a powerful crescent-shaped tail. Teeth are one of its most notable features, with the largest megalodon tooth ever found reaching an edge of 18cm and weighing nearly 450 grams. With a strong bite force, the lower jaw can crush a small car. As a top predator, Megalodon mainly preys on fish, baleen whales, toothed whales, manatees and seals.
