In the 1930 s, Japan's frantic expansion in East Asia caused the Soviet Union to be wary. In view of Japan's refusal to renew the London Naval Treaty, the Soviet Union decided to adopt the Pr.1058B scheme designed to build a hybrid warship "Moldova" for the Far East Pacific Fleet in response to the Japanese naval threat. The ship is equipped with a four-seat triple-mounted 406mm main gun, and the performance of the new Su-6 carrier-based attack aircraft is far superior to that of the same period, with stronger firepower and air combat mobility.
