The TR-3 is said to be a subsonic stealth reconnaissance aircraft with a flying wing design. It was allegedly used in the Gulf War to give laser nomenclature to F-117A Nighthawk bombers in order to target laser-guided bombs (smart bombs). However, there is no conclusive evidence that any other stealth aircraft were involved in the Gulf War. William Scott referred to Black Manta as a TR-3, not knowing that ER-2 was the name NASA, not the Department of Defense, because ER stands for "Earth Resources".
