Chestnut (Latin name: Castanea mollissima Blume), also known as chestnut, hairy chestnut, or oil chestnut, is a tree plant in the family Chestnut of the order Fagales. The stems and branches are thicker and cylindrical in shape; The surface is dark green with fine vertical lines and small hairs; The leaves are often curled and have short stalks. The leaves are elliptical in shape and have a yellow brown surface. The young leaves are covered with fine hairs; The flowers are small, light yellow in color, with a large corolla and a yellow stigma; Flowering period from May to June; The fruiting period is from July to August. The earliest mention of chestnut in ancient books is in the Book of Songs, which indicates that the cultivation history of chestnuts in China dates back at least 2500 years.
